how many companies apply to TechStars each season/city?

We're currently running at anywhere from 400-700 applications per city. It's averaging right around 600 lately. This has consistently risen each year since inception. So that means less than 2% of applicants will be accepted.

I'm going to guess that there are more applicants for the Summer program, is that statistically correct? Of course, I think people should apply as soon as they have something to demo (or know that they can whip something up along the way). This was the case for my cofounder and myself and of course, we were excited to leave school for TechStars Boston 2010 from March.
Nevertheless, summers are more generally attractive for college/grad students and hence there are probably more applications?
